Toyota Motor Corporation, the leader in making quality cars with great value and Isuzu Motors Limited, well-renowned truck maker in Japan, are collaborating to build a small engine for the European auto market. Toyota is taking advantage of the reputation made by Isuzu as the world's famous maker of diesel engines. CNN reported that both Japanese car makers are only expanding their partnership which has started last November.Isuzu will make small engines for Toyota Motor Corporation to help strengthen the reputation of Toyota as the world's largest production line-up. Toyota is planning to reach 10 million units of car production before the year 2009 ends. The partnership with Isuzu will boost the possibility of the Japanese giant automaker achieving that goal faster. The collaboration of the two famous auto makers is set to result in a 1.6 liter aluminum engine which is going to be used to most of the cars built by Toyota. The collaboration will start building this small engine starting 2012.Yasuaki Iwamoto, the Okasan Securities analyst was quoted saying, "Toyota has never been a clear front-runner when it comes to diesel engines... But Isuzu's diesel engine resources will help Toyota get that missing piece."The move Toyota made will also help them meet the ever-growing demands for their vehicles, which are extremely popular because of their reliability and performance. European countries also worry about global warming and they are big into hybrid cars and cars with excellent mileage. This is where Isuzu enters the picture, being widely known for making engine parts with good mileage. Unlike the Yugo catalytic converters of old, today's auto parts made by auto makers are a lot greener.A growth of 5.9% was noted to Toyota after collaborating with Isuzu late last year. According to the Nikkei business daily, Isuzu has invested ¥30 billion ($260 million) in order to pursue the plan to build an assembly plant in island of Hokkaido to supply Toyota with 200,000 diesel engines annually starting 2012. Because the market is looking forward to cleaner diesel, more carmakers are developing new technologies to produce real time fuel-saving alternatives. And Toyota will continue to do more efforts to discover new effective technologies to pursue this public demand.
