The 2007 Camry Hybrid: Portents Of Better Things To Come
by Ernest Jarquio
Toyota's 2007 Camry Hybrid offers quality, comfort, and good design, plus the fuel efficiency and eco-friendliness of a hybrid.
It has an all-aluminum engine - a 268hp DOHC 24-valve Dual VVT-i V6 which accelerates from 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. This is combined with the Hybrid Synergy Drive resulting in EPA ratings of 33 mpg for city driving and 34 mpg on the highway. Emissions are reduced drastically to 70% less smoke-to-smog discharges qualifying it as a clean Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (AT-PZEV).
The power of this Camry Hybrid runs through a 6-speed automatic transmission for better performance and fuel economy. Shifting to a sequential manual mode gives the driver better control.
Safe air both inside and out
If this 2007 Camry Hybrid makes the air safe outside, it does the same for its passengers inside. The Plasmacluster ionizer purifies the conditioned air inside the car to reduce spores and microbes and keep indoor odors fresh.
Driver and front passenger are protected with the Advanced Airbag System, side, curtain, and driver's knee included. The Camry Hybrid's strong body is structured to absorb side impact, with seatbelts and shoulder anchors all part of a 3-point, Automatic/Emergency Locking Retractor (ALR/ELR) system. The ABS system on all 4 wheels' disc brakes distributes brake-force and provides braking assistance, together with the Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) system.
Good looks on the outside
Outside, the Camry Hybrid has halogen headlamps, the aerodynamic multi-reflectorised look, and can come with black-out sport trims. Steel or 7-spoke alloy wheels are eye-catching stationary or in motion. The aero-sloping windshield cuts drag, reduces noise, and absorbs solar energy. The slide moon roof is power-tilt and has a sliding sunshade. Up front, sport grilles in blackout mode, as well as color-keyed underbody spoilers in the front and rear all add to its good looks.
Functional styling on the inside
Inside, the Camry Hybrid dash provides the temperature outside, how much fuel you are saving, even your driving range, speed and distance covered from time of ignition are all displayed. You can see your drive level and the hybrid system's flow.
The Smart Key System provides a remote control for keyless-entry, locking and unlocking, trunk-opening, and illuminated entry. Leather seats using Toyota's Fraichir-treated fabric and trim are all part of the Camry Hybrid's support for passenger and driver comfort.
Armrests are integrated into the heated front seats; while rear seats have separate adjustable headrests, and a center armrest to hold cups or glasses. Back seats adjust for comfortable back support.
