Oil prices seem to keep rising and it is getting much harder to save fuel. Luckily there are some very simple, common sense things that you can do today to save stretch that gas dollar a little further. It is amazing how often we waste gas without even noticing it.
At the pump
Squeeze the trigger gently. This will get you more gas for your buck. Usually we press the trigger as hard as we can and get out of the way as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, this fills our tank with mostly fumes and that $50 doesn't last as long.
Driving
Avoid speeding and making quick stops. On the highway remember that whenever you exceed 60 mph you are not using your car efficiently and it is wasting more money.
Maintain your Vehicle
Be sure to make sure your Air Filters are clean. Keep your tires properly inflated. Use the proper motor oil for your vehicle. And especially make sure your engine is regularly tuned. Keeping your car maintained will ensure you make the most out of the gas in your tank.
As well as the common sense method to save fuel, there are also technological options on the market now. Alternative Fuels (such as ethanol) and hybrid cars are becoming more common by the day and, although they are currently quite expensive, some day they will change the transportation industry.
In the future it will be quite cheap to drive, with the invention of the Salt Water Engine (which is being fine tuned right now) we will have a huge source of energy for everyone and it comes from the most abundant thing on this planet. Water.
